Bottoms Up

Yep, this is how I flip the boat and it is very nerve-racking.

I use two gantries, four chain hoists, two straps and a lot of patience.

I have to take it slow and easy to make sure I don’t rack the boat. I leave the back on, transom is what it’s called in the boat world, in tact, to help keep the stability of the boat and also brace the interior.

At last, upside down on the ground.  Now, I have to spend hours making sure it is perfectly true and level, which is kind of hard on a boat that is not square.

As you can see in this picture all the cracks and splitting of the bottom boards.  If I left this, she would leak big time.  So, it’s time to get started to repair this.

The rudders are really hard to remove, but when upside down, I can use a puller and the chain hoist to remove them.
