Now that I have the varnish applied on the top surface and it’s nice and smooth, it’s time to start the stripes.

This takes six or seven rolls of tape. It also takes two days to apply. It’s a lot of fun keeping it straight. The top of the boat is contoured from front to back, so, that means it’s rolling up and rolling down. It just makes it a little bit more challenging and interesting.

I install the engine hatches to insure that all the stripes line up through the boat from front to back. Especially, since we have those spaces in between where the seating is.

It’s kind of like Christmas…unwrapping the presents. It always makes me happy when the lines are nice, straight and clean. Then I don’t have too much cleaning up on the edges where the paint has bleed through.

Yes, it makes me excited when I get to this point and I start putting the finishing touches on the boat. There’s still a lot of work to do. The engines have to be mounted, wiring to finish, all the chrome has to go on and then the final thing, seats.
