Now that I have one side done, it’s time to start on the other side. You can see I put a trim piece across the back. What I’m going to do on the back end of this bar will be just like a boat and I will grout all the lines.

Wow, that was quick. I wish the first side had been that quick. It probably took me 8 to 10 hours of cutting and fitting on it. I have to make it look symmetrical, so one side matches the other, but I think it turned out well.

Back to the front of the boat. You can see I have it fastened down. I’ve planed most of the boards and need to plane the rest. I will grout the joints on the front top deck as well. If you’re wondering why I have all the grout joint grooves cut into the boards, I’m going to paint them. You will never know it. They look the same and you don’t need all the flexibility on a bar as you do a boat.

It always amazes me when building a bar how much wood it burns up. I am so close to running out of old planking it’s unbelievable, but somehow, I’ll make it all work.
