Vegas Boat Bar, Part III

Here, I’m building the stern (using a little bit of boat terminology), or the back.  This gives it a lot of strength and stability by having a return wall; plus, it looks nice.

Now it’s time to start on the top.  It’s a little different with the rail down the sides.  The top has to be elevated to match the height of the 3 1/2 inch thick rails.

To me, this looks really nice.  It really gives a boat or boat bar a lot of definition on the sides. Not to mention, it’s pretty comfortable to sit at and have a cocktail.

Yep: measure twice, cut once.  I do a lot of measuring on something like this.  With all these counters, it gets a little tricky sometimes.  Sometimes, I end up with a lot of scrap wood…not too happy about that.

I imagine that curvature of the shelf with the top of the bar is going to look really nice.  The first shelf on the back, or the inside of the boat bar, sticks out just 8 inches.  It’s enough to mix cocktails or mount your blender.  Whatever you want to do, you’ll have your main bottles ready at will, so to speak.
